Margaret Sally's Online Baby Shower

This is my online baby shower for Margaret Sally over at Just Me...! Join in to be eligible for the prizes!

Margaret and her Hubby Mark are expecting a bundle of joy later on this year. You can read all about it here. Margaret has been a great blogging friend and always leaves great comments and sends hilarious emails. She tells it like it is and doesn't beat around the bush. She's the genuine article, ladies and gents.

That's why I'd like to shower her with tips and wisdom gained the hard way- experience. I will leave this post up at the top of my blog for the next week and I' hope you'll all join me in linking up with your favorite posts on raising kids from birth to... well I guess you never stop being a parent, so any post on kids- little or big. This can be an old post or a new one. You can also link to several posts if you have them. All I ask is that the main idea of the post is child-rearing advice. Please link up with your name followed by a two or three word description in parentheses. For example: Heather(baby bathing).
Once you've linked up, you're name goes in the hopper for some great prizes from Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Premiere Designs Jewelry and more! You'll be entered each time you link another post up! I also ask that you spread the word in a post with a link back here so others can join in the fun.

Have at it!!!

Listen to your child when they talk to you. Drop everything, nothing is more important, and really listen.
Car rides are a good way to calm a fussy baby

Don't pat the baby's back after feeding, pat her bum, it's more effective

Be patient. Be honest. Be loving.

She is going to make mistakes. She may have horrible days.
Tell her to try and appreciate every single moment. (Some of that will have to happen way after the event has passed.)

No matter what anyone tells you....You must have a rocking chair of some kind, preferably the wooden type with pads. Then hold that baby and rock it and look it right in the face, and remember every loving moment......that cuddle time is over way tooo soon. Enjoy it while it lasts

Sleep when the baby sleeps. Let people help, with laundry, cooking, dishes, shopping. Breast feeding is the only choice. If you go that route, don’t eat extra spicy foods, caffeine, OJ, or an abundance of chocolate. When you go out, there is no need to haul a 20 pound diaper bag along. All you really need is a few diapers, wipes and a different out fit. If you will be gone for the whole day, of course then you will need more things. Leave the bulk of the stuff in the car, and only bring a smaller bag with you. Buy your diapers at Costco.
“Earths Best” brand baby food is the tastiest. You can find it at “Henrys” or “Sprouts” or “Whole Foods”. Take tons of pictures. Get a dust buster. There’s no such thing as holding your baby too much.

She needs a mom she respects to be her sounding board.

There is never a bad reason to call the doctor. That is why they are there, to help you.

Hugs and kisses all the time.

It is officially no longer about you. It is about the child. Your actions must consider the baby first.

My best advice is to completely enjoy your baby
Breast feed and never put your baby on a feeding time schedule let them have it when they want for as long as they want. They are only babies for such a short time… hold them, love them as much as you can. The more you sit and hold them and feed them the more rest you are getting as well.
Talk with your baby and play with them all the time so they smile. Interact with all the time.

I'm sorry my comment was so long.

I have been collecting advice from my mommy friends for a while. I like to include this in cards that I send to new moms.

All of the above advice is from my friends who are all mommies and daddies.
The longest paragraph is from my sister who has 5 kids.

The best advice I ever got was some I didn't seem to appreciate at the time, but turns out to be so very true. "Enjoy you children while they are little because they grow up so fast"
