WFMW: The Kitchen Bowl

I've been doing my holiday baking this week and I thought maybe you all would be too. So. Here's a tip that I'd like to pass on about saving a little time in the kitchen.

If you've ever watched Rachael Ray, you've seen her use a large bowl on the counter for her scraps and trash. It saves you from running back and forth to the trash can and opening a door if you keep it in the cabinet or opening the lid.

I take that one step further and line the bowl with a bag from hamburger buns or with any plastic bag I have handy. All you have to do is toss the bag. No messy bowl with dried egg to scrub afterwards!

I've been using the trashbowl technique for awhile, but this is brilliant!
You should totally write to RAchel Ray about this! You have built a better mousetrap, so to speak!

That is fantastic! This will save me many steps & drips on my (already-not-so-clean) floor. Thanks!

I hadn't heard about this idea before, so thanks for sharing it. Usually, I toss egg shells into the garbage can and they hit the cupboard door or make a mess on the floor.

We are so twinkies - I just did this exact same thing this evening when peeling potatoes for my chicken noodle soup. :)

Ooooh - that is smart! I've been using similar sacks for dirty diaper disposal. One of my cousins uses those for collecting pet waste (puts her hand in the sack like a glove, collects droppings, flips the sack over her hand and ties it off).

Thanks for sharing your great idea for recycling those sacks. It'd be great if recycling centers could take them...

Happy New Year.
