Poor Girl!!!!

What a crazy week!

Not for me, but for my Sister-in-law, Shelly.

I told you all about her troubles with Jordan's knee, the washer pump, their cell phone, her oven and the water heater earlier this week.

Well... the day after their new water heater was installed (costing them a pretty penny), my niece Heather (great name, huh?) saw me in the window at school (I work at her school) and told me she felt dizzy. She didn't look very good, so I told her to go in the office and lay down. I finished what I was doing and tried to call Shelly. I couldn't get in touch with her, but about 10 minutes later, she came walking in to say, "Hi."

Apparently, Heather had gotten hit in the head in gym class and they send the kids home right away with head injuries.

Shelly called the Dr. and he said to keep an eye on her and watch for signs of concussion. By 3 AM, Heather was vomiting.

Shelly had to take her to the ER (which costs them $250 just to walk in the door) for a CAT scan. She had to go to a specialist for more tests yesterday. She does have a concussion. There is no bleeding or swelling, which is good, but she can't participate in gym class, play sports or otherwise exert herself.

This is absolute torture for Heather. She feels fine, but she is normally a VERY active girl. She can't sit still for a minute and she likes to keep busy. She plays volleyball and basketball on one league or another year-round and she is always picking Steven up and wrestling with the boys.

Not only is is torture for her, but for Shelly to try and keep her still and to make her sleep 10 to 12 hours a day is like pulling teeth!

I took Heather and her friend with me to the grocery store today to pick up a new digital camera battery and some other items just to get her out of the house. She was supposed to go to a friend's birthday party today, but they decided she'd better not with her injury. I am also taking her along tonight to Matthew's football banquet in Mike's place. I think she'll enjoy it much more than he would.

If you are so inclined, would you please saya little prayer for Heather and her family. They really have had more than their share of unexpected expenses and medical problems lately. Pray for patience and calm for the family and that Heather will be able to rest and recover completely. Thanks!!!
