Getting Ready For Winter

It has felt much like summer here for far longer than usual. A cold front is coming in tonight and the weather will be more fall-like after that. It is reminding me that there are so many things to do before the cold, rain and eventually snow arrive.

One thing we do before winter is rearrange the things we keep in our garage. We will no longer need our bikes, fishing gear and outside toys. Much of that stuff will get toted out to the shed and the snow shovels and boots and snow suits will get moved into the garage.

We really need some different storage solutions for these items. The shed is nice to store things in for the season, but the way we store items in the garage for the winter could really use a major overhaul.

The boys have several different types of sleds, snow pants and boots. Don't even get me started on how many pairs of boots we have between the 4 of us! Rubber boots for feeding the dogs and for muddy days, snow boots for snowy days, hunting boots (different grams of insulation for different temperatures), play shoes, etc. Everything gets leaned up against something or stacked on the shelves that are already overflowing with things.

I'd really love to have a place for everything out there. We have a nice big garage, but we just aren't utilizing the space to its maximum capability. Just thinking about it makes me want to jump in and tackle it right now!

Do you have any creative storage solutions for your garage that I could use?

I have that shoe problem.... and it sits right inside the back door, in front of the washer and dryer. I hate doing laundry as it is, but I really hate winter when I trip over everybodys boots to get to the chore that I hate the most.
We have talked several times about a solution to this problem but havent come up with anything
