Homemade Daily Shower Spray

Since I've had such great success with the Homemade Laundry Detergent, I decided to search for a recipe for some homemade daily shower spray.

You know, the kind you mist the tub and surround with each time you shower?

I used to use the store brand religiously and it really worked. I only had to give my shower a good scrub about every 6 weeks and even then, it wasn't so bad. I got away from using it and regretted it when I recently had to get a new shower curtain liner because my old one had mildewed beyond bleaching. It hadn't torn or otherwise worn out, but it needed to go.

I found a recipe that I am trying at this site. Here is the recipe (as copied from the site):

Mix together one-half cup of hydrogen peroxide, one-half cup of rubbing alcohol, about six drops of grease cutting dishwashing liquid, two teaspoons of liquid spot-free dishwasher rinse, and twenty-four ounces of water. Using this homemade product on a daily basis will keep your shower and liner cleaner longer.

There are other recipes in the same article to achieve similar results, but the one above is the one I think will be most effective for my situation.

So far, it has worked well, but this is one of those things that time will answer better than anything. I will be sure to update you on how it goes.

I have used this mixture in the automated machine that came with the scrubbing bubbles cleaner. I just refill it and push the button.

did it work for you?

I don't think that using hydrogen pyroxide does any good because once it gets air or water (which contain oxygen molecules) mixed in with it, it loses its ability to work. I think that is because it binds to the oxygen molecules and becomes other elements. The key ingredient is the diswasher drying ingredient which supplies a sheeting action and does not let soap scum stick to the surface of the shower surround.
