WFMW: Get Rid of Fruit Flies

Whether brought in by peaches, oranges, bananas or some other fruit, fruit flies are a nuisance in just about every home at one time or another. Too tiny to swat and too fast to catch, most of us just live with them for a few days and hope they'll go away. Well, thanks to my hubby's Aunt, I recently found out a way to get rid of them and I'm passing it on to you.
Simply put some cider vinegar, water and a drop of dish soap in a small dish and leave it sit on the counter overnight. The fruit flies will be attracted by the cider vinegar scent and the drop of soap you mixed in will pull them in once they land. You can see one of my pesky little flies in the upper right-hand part of the dish pictured. He landed there within 10 minutes of putting the dish out!

My hubby just outlawed fruit in the house for a week to try to get rid of these pesky creatures! I will try this and maybe we can have bannanas again:)

Great tip! I've tried the mesh dome tents over fruit but they've never worked all that well. Will try this!
And thanks for stopping by my blog, too!

Wow! So simple, thanks so much! I've STILL got fruit flies buzzing around (thanks to my children who consume absurd amounts of fresh fruit), I'll do this tonight and wipe the last of them out. And I'm always excited about natural solutions.
