WFMW: The Shoe Dryer

I honestly don't know how we survived so long without this little gem of a contraption, but I am ever so thankful that we discovered it before the introduction of baseball and football practices into our family.

This is The Shoe Dryer. It isn't really called that, but it holds such status in our home that it deserves a proper name. It is actually called a boot dryer and this model came from one of the "Big 3" (that would be Cabela's, Bass Pro or Gander Mountain) and cost somewhere in the $40 range.

It dries boots, shoes, gloves and pretty much anything that you can drape over it or set on top of it. It has saved us in numerous situations:

~Mike's shoes. I love him with all my heart, but the man sweats in completely unnatural amounts. I would say at least twice the amount of other men his age. My guess is it's just because he's so hot! Hear the sizzle? Tssssssssssssssss! Anyhow, his shoes in the summer used to be left outside until we got The Shoe Dryer.

~ Baseball/Football cleats. Matthew sweats nearly as much as Mike, but his sweat is still little kid sweat. They do get damp each game just from sweat and if they play in the rain or on a wet field, They will spend the night on The Shoe Dryer and be fine the next day.
I also hear that my nieces need one for their shoes after they work out on their Precor elliptical.
~Steven's shoes. The kid is just attracted to water. I swear if we are ever lost in the desert, we could use him in dowsing for the nearest ground water. He has fallen into the river where we fish, the pond where we swim and through an ice fishing hole.

~My shoes and boots. I don't sweat that much, but I do love to put on some warm shoes, boots and slippers in the winter. The Shoe Dryer warms them right up!

I have also draped a towel over the top of The Shoe Dryer and put sweaters, jerseys with screen printing on them and delicates over the towel. Dried in a snap!

This is a great idea, I have one child that is constantly falling into water... (thank goodness he can swim) I might have to get one just for him!

Wow, the Soldiers in Iraq could use those!

Motels need those! Can't tell you how many times I've checked in after a rain storm and all they had to dry my boots was the hair dryer.

Of course, the look on the next users face would be priceless when they turned it on. *grin*
