Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

We are in the throes of that big winter storm that is sweeping across the country. It started about noon today and the roads were immediately slicker that snot! I had a small errand to run after picking Matthew up from a party, but decided against it when I had trouble stopping at an intersection when I was only coasting in to the stop to begin with. I couldn't believe it was that slick that fast.

I came home to finish some of the cookies I'm making for a party we have this evening at a neighbor's house. Thank goodness they live a couple of doors down, or I don't think we'd attempt going. Check out my food blog, The Fat Bottomed Girl to see one of the cute additions to the cookie tray!

So Christmas is almost here and my shopping is all but done. Mike and I went shopping for the rest of our items this past week. While we were out, Mike's parents wanted to buy me a hand-mixer, but wanted me to pick out which one I wanted. I found a nice little Sunbeam that I like.

Many women don't like receiving household items as gifts, but I like it. I don't need anything like diamond pendants or bracelets, I can't wear them at work anyways and we don't go anywhere that dressy. I will use this mixer at least once a week and I won't have to bring out "the big gun" (aka my Kitchen Aide) for small jobs like mashed potatoes.

Well, It's nearly party time and I have to get these boys ready and attempt to get myself ready at the same time. We've got about 3 inches of snow out there right now, so maybe we'll sled ride to the neighbor's. LOL!

We got 3 inches of snow, then it rained, then it froze. Now we are getting another inch or two of snow.

Not jealous of the snow!

I like practical gifts too! But pampering ones are nice too, like lotions and what not. Tim got me a massage last year and I think that was the perfect gift!
