Bonus Nifty-Thrifty Tip

I was filing some papers today and thought I'd pass on some tips about insurance. It is so important to have good insurance, but you don't have to pay through the nose for it. Here are some tips:

~ Have your home owner's insurance incorporated into your house payment. Most lenders will do this for you. It saves your policy from being cancelled due to a missed or late payment which can cost you reinstatement fees. Not to mention the cost of paying for an incident that occurs during a lapse in coverage.

~ Buy your home insurance and car insurance from the same agent. You can receive discounts for holding multiple policies. Ask about the discount to make sure it is applied.

~ Make the full payment amount if you can. If not, try to make at least 3 months at a time. Companies often charge a surcharge if you break the premium into monthly payments.

~ Clean up your credit, then let your agent know about it. If you had a bad credit score when you bought your insurance, you may be able to lower your rates by clearing that up. This will help you in many more ways as well, but most people don't realize it affects your insurance rate.
~ Quit smoking or otherwise using tobacco to get a lower life insurance rate.
