Garage Sale Finds

We are about to start a new puzzle.

Matthew bought a 1000 piece puzzle at a garage sale last weekend and we can't wait to get started on it. It is a french chateau with flowers in the foreground. Very pretty.

I'm not usually a big garage sale person, but this one had a lot of great deals. I looked for a new tote bag or purse (I LOVE me some bags, people), but there weren't any I had to have.

I did see a nice wall sconce and some milk glass that I liked, but I resisted the urge.

I walked away empty handed, but along with Matthew's puzzle he and Steven each bought a grab bag full of kid's meal toys from fast food restaurants. The lady holding the sale also gave them each another grab bag that she had planned to re-bag but hadn't gotten around to.

Greeeeaaaaaat. I think those grab bags (with about 10 to 12 toys in each) set my bedroom cleaning back about two months. Those are the first toys I pitch when I clean a room. They are tiny and usually have lost a piece or two.

So far, the boys have both kept their treasures in the plastic grocery bags I gave them. Being wise, though, I know it is only a matter of time before I am finding them all over the place.

On the other hand, putting those toys in a grab bag to sell was one of the best ideas I've seen at a garage sale. If you really want to get something out of those toys, toss a bunch in a clear plastic bag together and charge a buck. The kids will buy a whole bag just because they like one of the toys inside and you get a buck to get rid of a dozen at a time! Good thinkin'!

Puzzles?! I love puzzles! We've started a tradition each winter to get a 1000 pc puzzle. The first year was a big John Deere puzzle and for the next Christmas I had it framed for Chuck.

Uncle Greg and I made a puzzle when we very FIRST met. We framed it. Thomas Kinkade. A great memento.
