Tackle It Tuesday: Polishing

I am once again sans photos for Tackle It Tuesday. I really need to get into the habit of keeping a camera in my hands at all times.

Anyway, my tackle for this week is one that I had been putting off for a long time.

I have a smooth-top range. It is glass and needs polished about every two weeks. It is also white, so it needs to be cleaned well each time I use it. I like to spray it down with Windex to soak, after it has cooled, while I load the dishwasher and clean up after supper. Then, I scrape or scrub it to get off any immediate stains. The polish helps keep scratches and stains down to a minimum and keeps the surface looking nice. I was very diligent about it for the first couple of years, but for the last year, polishings have been sporadic at best.

My routine had always been to polish it every other Sunday. We generally pick up chicken for lunch after church and often order pizza for supper, so it's a great day to polish and have it last for more than an hour.

This weekend, I decided to start polishing the stove top on the Sundays that I drive the kids to PSR (our Parish School of Religion). My Sister-in-law and I take turns driving, so I hope this will put me back on track to keep my stove looking and functioning nicely.

Good luck in keeping it up. That is one of my goals is to keep my tackle it jobs looking as good as they did when I finished.

I love the smooth-top stoves (and miss mine), but they are hard to keep clean if you don't stay on top of it. Sounds like you've got a good plan. Great job!!

Good luck! that is a hard one for me... I tend to slack on the stove cleaning, then I will attack it with vengence when it looks awful!

Have a great Tuesday!

Good plan to keep up with when it's time to clean the stove! At our house, we have a gas stove-top and thankfully, my husband usually cleans it!

Sounds like a good plan!

I have a new stove that has a glass top as well. I'm almost out of the scrubbin stuff it came with. Can you get it at the grocery store or walmart?

Okay... now can you post on Parish School of Religion? I want to know more please. Give me girl details. =)

I'd never be able to keep a white stove top clean! I use lemon juice and baking soda to keep it clean, when I clean it that is! :)

I *loathe* trying to keep mine clean! Good luck with getting it back into your schedule! Sounds like a plan!

We bought a new flat top stove in Orrville but had to leave it there because we have a gas stove here. I did hate cleaning it, but then again I hate cleaning this one!

I thought I'd want a smooth-top stove, they look SO nice, until my parents bought one and I found out what a bear they were to take care of. I don't envy you! Keeping my gas stove clean is bad enough, lol.

Thanks for posting the pirogee recipe too, I've always wanted to make those and never got up the gumption to track a recipe down. Now I'm going to definitely try them! :)

I HATE cleaning the stove. Gah.

And I really like your idea of Chicken and pizza on Sunday. Hmmm. Now I want pizza.

We have a smooth-top stove too and just finished cleaning it thoroughly. I had to call Adam in because one or two spots needed some serious elbow juice. ;0)
