ABC's of Homemaking

A-B-C's of Homemaking
Stephanie, tagged me for this meme. I had seen it before, but never got around to doing it. I'm glad she tagged me!

The A-B-C's of Homemaking

Aprons- Y/N? - Yes. I have a great apron that I own from working in the school cafeteria. It is the best!

Baking- I love to bake, but I don't do it often enough according to DH and the boys. :o)

Clothesline- Y/N? YES!!! There is nothing like line-dried clothes/sheets!

Donuts- Ever made them? - Once I made fried donuts. They turned out really well, but they were a lot of work. I should give them another go since I have a bread machine now.

Everyday- One homemaking thing you do everyday? - Shine my sink. Even when the rest of the house isn't caught up, I like having nothing in the sink when I wake up.

Freezer- Do you have a separate deep freezer? - Definitely! We keep our fish from vacation in there and DH's deer. Not to mention Christmas gifts.

Garbage Disposal- Y/N? - Yes.

Handbook- Y/N? - Sink Reflections by Marla Cilley (AKA Flylady).

Ironing- Only when absolutely necessary.

Junk Drawer- Where is it? - right next to the fridge. Thankfully, the fact that it is small forces me to keep it from overflowing.

Kitchen- Design and decorating? - My kitchen and dining room are one large room. I have a lot of great counter space and cabinet space in the kitchen. I have the table we bought when we got married in the center of the kitchen and a bigger table that was given to us by a neighbor in the dining room. The walls are white and I have red and tan plaid valances (that I got for $.50 a panel at a garage sale!!) on my kitchen window and my patio door.

Love- What is your favorite part of homemaking? - I love cooking and baking... and then eating whatever I cook or bake!

Nylons- Wash by hand or in the washer? - Both. I have a zippered bag for them from when I worked in retail and wore them everyday. I can't even remember the last time I wore any now that I think about it.

Oven- Do you use the window or open it to check? - Both. Depends on what I'm making in there.

Pizza- What do you put on yours? - Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and yellow peppers. Sometimes I go for just pepperoni and sausage, though.

Quiet- What do you do during the day when you get a quiet moment? - Whatever I can think of first. Usually sing, read or make grocery lists while I can actually think.

Recipe card box- Y/N? - I have one, but I keep most of my recipes in a ziploc bag in my spice cabinet.

Style of house - Ranch. We built it in 1999 and I really love it! Everything is on the first floor, so when I'm 80, I won't have to hoof it to the basement to wash clothes and hoof it up any stairs to put it away.

Tablecloths and napkins- Y/N? - No tablecloths yet. I should now that the boys are older. I was always afraid of them pulling them off when they were little. We use paper napkins for now, but I want to switch to cloth ones.

Under the kitchen sink - Trash bags, Windex, cleaning rags, clorox wipes, orange glo, spray-on carpet cleaner, Goo Gone, empty canning jars, vases and polish for my glass cook-top.

Vacuum- How many times a week? - I do a longer vacuum once a week, but I try to hit the high-traffic areas in between at least one time between then.

Wash- How many loads do you do a week? - I usually do a load everyday just to keep up. I usually load the soap and clothes up each evening after cleaning up the kitchen so I can turn the washer on first thing in the morning.

X's- Do you keep a list of things to do and cross them off? - I love to make lists and used to make them all the time. I now have a list of stuff I do everyday that is in a plastic page-protector that I can cross off with a dry-erase marker. I left space at the bottom to add items with the dry-erase marker as I need to.

Yard- Who does what? - Mike mows on the riding mower (its a zero-turn and I can't drive the thing), I do the trimming with the push mower, he edges with his weed-eater. Both of us pull weeds as we see them. Its funny, but we both walk around the house a few times a day and pull tiny weeds that have popped up, so the landscaping stays pretty clean. Both of us mulch and we all work on bigger projects together.

ZZZ's- What is your last homemaking task for the day? - Laying out clothes for the next day and I wipe my bathroom sink up quickly each night.

I tag Vicki, Rebekah, Sam and whoever else wants to play along.
