WFMW: Tracking Santa Claus

As you know it can be tough to get our darling little angels to go to bed and night of the year. Steven is especially difficult at bedtime.

By far, the worst night for getting the kiddos to bed is on Christmas Eve.

If you do the Santa thing, here is how we do it. Go to the NORAD Santa Tracker website on Christmas Eve. You can see where Santa has been, where he is now and all sorts of things!

There are many activities you can do before Christmas, too! You can find out more about Santa himself, learn how NORAD tracks Santa, download cool holiday stuff and you can even email Santa!

My boys really enjoy this site and they're already making sure I have it saved in the favorites.

I also promised a recipe for every WFMW till Christmas. In the spirit of Santa, here is my choice for this week:

MAGIC REINDEER FOOD
old fashioned oats
red and green sprinkles or colored sugar
glitter
anything else you can think of

Mix all ingredients together in whatever quantity you need. Sprinkle it over your driveway on Christmas eve to attract reindeer pulling sleighs.

You can make up a large batch and put about 1/4 cup in Ziploc bags for classroom parties, too. attach a tag with the following poem on it:

Sprinkle on your lawn at night,
The moon will make it sparkle bright.
As Santa's reindeer fly and roam,
This will guide them to your home.

WARNING:
Do not leave ANY of the magic reindeer food in your pantry or refrigerator. I did not know this tip the first time we made it and the reindeer came in the house, spilled things from the fridge and pantry and knocked chairs over. Santa left a nice note to apologize, but every year, the reindeer seem to remember that we had it inside one year and they have made a habit of coming in and leaving a mess behind every year.

i love this!! a friend of mine does this every year at her house, but she goes one better: on christmas morning, she leaves a little pile of whoppers or junior mints in the same place the oats were, and tells the kids it's "reindeer poop!"

hilarious.
