WFMW: Calming Chocolate Cravings

It's the holidays.

What? You haven't heard? ;o)

If you're like me, the holidays make you wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night. No, it's not the thought of having to give Aunt Maude (you know, the one with the mole?) a kiss on Christmas Day.

It's the craving for that plate of chocolate chip cookies, fudge and brownies that is sitting on the counter! You don't even care that the kiddos have pawed, poked and prodded at each and every one to prevent anyone else even contemplating touching them.

You know what goes through your mind... What if I wake up and they're all gone? Or worse, what if they get :::gasp::: stale?!?!?! What a shame it would be to let a thing like that happen! Even the thought... Oh! The humanity!!! Any woman worth her estrogen knows full well that ANY sugar-laced, icing-frosted, sprinkle-topped treat should be eaten as absolutely fresh as possible!

What is a girl to do?

Don't worry! Doctor Heather is in and she has the answer for you. The ONLY way to curb this kind of chocolate frustration is to feed it! You heard me, EAT THE CHOCOLATE!!!

Disclaimer: No, I am not a real Doctor... but I should be, don't you think? I'd perscribe chocolate for everything because it has so many health beneifts!

To aide you in your quest for cocoa-laden goodness (and more hyphenated words), I shall provide you with a top-secret, highly-secure, cocoa-rific recipe.

Okay, actually I got this out of Taste of Home magazine years ago and I share it freely, but it sounded so much better with a little build up, don't you think?

Fudge Brownies

1&1/3 Cups Flour

2 Cups Sugar

3/4 Cup Baking Cocoa

1 tsp. Baking Powder

1/2 Tsp. salt

1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts (optional)

2/3 Cup Vegetable Oil

4 Eggs, lightly beaten

2 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Another 1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 and line a 9x13 pan with foil. Grease the foil.

In a bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients. In another, combine the oil, eggs and vanilla. Add this mixture to the dry mixture. DO NOT overmix! Spread in pan. Top with nuts and bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side comes out clean.

These are also great frosted with chocolate frosting, but then again, what isn't??

Homemade brownies for chocolate cravings works for me!

LOL I felt like I was watching a commercial! There's no chance of chocolate ANYTHING going stale in MY house!! Those brownies sound scrumptious, I'm gonna print out the recipe! You know what else is good? I make a batch of brownies, then top them with cream cheese frosting and cherry pie filling! YUM!!
