Tackle It Tuesday: Freezing Meat

My tackle for this week is a pretty simple one. I got 30 lbs. of ground beef (Certified Angus thankyouverymuch) as a gift and my job was to package and freeze it. I took a picture of some of it while I was doing it since I never thought of it as a TT job until about half way through.

I cooked some of the meat in the crock pot mushed up in water. Sounds gross, I know, but it cooks evenly, no grease splattering and what fat there is gets poured off when you drain it. I'll freeze that in quart zip top bags so I can just pull them out and defrost for spaghetti, chili or coney sauce.

I also froze a lot of patties and 1lb. packages raw. I like to make my own meatballs for spaghetti and for sweedish meatballs.
My foodsaver got quite the workout! I love that machine!

So here it is!

That is a great idea. i always hate having to cook the meat before i put it in, doing it ahead of time is brill.
