WFMW: "Seems Like" Free Shopping

You all know that pinch that comes right around the last week of December when you've got your checking account down to practically nothing and all of a sudden, you're out of everything? Your family is complaining that they want things like milk and bread and toilet paper- whiners! LOL! Just kidding, but you know the feeling! Anyways, a couple of years ago, one of the many Flybabies sent an idea to Flylady that I've used ever since.

The next time you are out grocery shopping, buy one of the store's gift cards. Many of them will let you choose the amount, but if not, then choose the smallest one. Then, each time you shop between now and Christmas, add $5 or $10 to it. By the time Christmas rolls around, you'll have a "free" shopping trip!

This also works right before vacation so you'll have grocery money when you come back, or you can give the card as a gift if you'd like. Fellow Flybabies have also suggested getting cards like this at the bigger stores you frequent like Walmart or K-Mart throughout the year. When you need a birthday gift or when a small appliance goes out, you'll have the money in hand. Works for me!

Wow, that's one of the smartest ideas I've ever heard. Not only would it be good for that holiday pinch...but it would also be a good way to save for a rainy day!
